Leg 1

As the Rallye “regulars” vie for the podium, the novices, including those in E-Gazelle, get to know the rules…

Charlotte Zucconi and Hélène Grand’Eury of Team 238 (Hélène GRAND'EURY / Charlotte ZUCCONI - AFFI MOBILE) are at the top of the Leg 1 ranking in 4×4 Class with 6.26 kilometres over the ideal crow-flies distance. The two Gazelles, last year’s winners, are highly motivated to keep their title, but Jeannette and Murielle, 200 (Jeanette JAMES / Murielle TARRAZI - Bumper Off Road), trail them by only 130 metres. The gap is slightly wider between second and third place, Karima and Dounia, Team 222 (Karima LAAROUSSI-MOUHYI / Dounia BENNANI-MAZHAR - MAISON NICOLE & MOON GARDEN), who finish the leg with 6.61 kilometres over the ideal distance.

These three teams are all Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc regulars. That is not the case for Christelle and Alexandra of Team 186 (Chrystelle FREY / Alexandra REZNIK - ORFEO DEVELOPPEMENT), who finish the leg at the top of First Participation Class with 11.84 km over the ideal distance. They are 400 m ahead of second-place Team 144 (Vanessa PARIS / Julie HU SEIK - Mca technology), Vanessa and Julie. Third position, at 12.13 km, is occupied by Joanna and Katherine, Team 111 (Joanna CAUDAN CHABOUD / Katerine CHABOUD - EMILE GARCIN PROPRIÉTÉS).

In E-Gazelle Class, the top spot is held by Virginie and Lucile of Team 502 (Virginie HENRIOT / Lucile ASSIE - Sète Agglopôle Méditerranée). Sylvie and Marina of Team 508 (Sylvie BREDOUX RICHARD / Marina DELTOUR - VINCI Immobilier) finish in second place with 56.67 km over the ideal distance. The rest of the E-Gazelle teams are far behind them after missing three checkpoints. Given that each missed CP is worth 40 km in penalty points, this has been a costly leg for some…

In SSV Class, Betty and Sonia of Team 29 (Elisabeth KRAFT / Sonia BAUDOIN-GUERARD - POLARIS FRANCE) finish in first place with 5.21 km, no great surprise for Betty who has won the Rallye 12 times out of 13 participations. Catherine and Alexandra of Team 20 (Catherine KERAMIDAS / Alexandra CHAPUIS - EIFFAGE - CBA) trail them by just 330 m. Véronique and Laurence of Team 25 (Véronique DE SYBOURG-SIFFERT / Laurence BRASEY - Michel Riedo&Fils SA) occupy third position, with 6.26 kilometres over the ideal distance.

#FreeNasrin

Dominique Serra has dedicated this 29th edition to Nasrin Sotoudeh – prominent Iranian lawyer and human rights advocate – who has been sentenced to 38 years in prison and 148 lashes for “inciting corruption and prostitution” by defending women who took off their headscarves in public.

I encourage everyone to sign the petition for her release.
