Leg 6 | Marathon
No major changes after the sixth and final leg of the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc. The favorites confirm their positions except in Crossover Class…
A job well done for Anne-Marie et Yolande of Team 190 (Anne-Marie BORG / Yolande BENS - CONSTRUCTIONS DU SUD OUEST - CSO) who wanted to end the Rallye in style with another victory! The two Gazelles won the second marathon leg in 4×4 Class with 11.25 kilometres over the ideal distance, more than one kilometre ahead of Team 200 (Jeanette JAMES / Murielle TARRAZI - Bumper Off Road). But it is not enough to move up in the general ranking, where they finish in third position. Jeanette and Murielle are the winners of this 29th edition with a total of only 65.06 kilometres over the ideal distance in nine days, a stellar performance! Second position goes Team 207 (Tania LIO / Régine ZBINDEN - Bumperoffroad), Régine and Tania, two kilometres behind.
The penalty kilometres in First Participation are quite a bit higher: 115.43 kilometres for the winners, Léa and Alia of Team 191 (Léa BAUDIER / Alia BOUCHAMA - BMCE BANK). The two Gazelles did not shine on this last leg, which they finished in eighth position with 29.86 extra kilometres, six kilometres more than Margot and Gaëlle of Team 198 (Margot PICCHIONI / Gaëlle PUGLIESE - Centre Cardio Thoracique de Monaco). Second position in the general ranking for 4×4 First Participation goes to the two Nathalies of Team 105 (Nathalie ROSSINI-RACAUD / Nathalie LEVERT - UMANOVE), followed by Marlène and Valérie, Team 156 (Marlène VILOTTE / Valérie DUBOURDY - LITTLE BRIDGE), winners of Leg 5.
No change in Quad-SSV Class
It comes as no surprise that Betty and Sonia of Team 29 (Elisabeth KRAFT / Sonia BAUDOIN-GUERARD - POLARIS FRANCE) are the winners of the 29th Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc in Quad/SSV Class. The two Gazelles finish the competition with just 50.82 kilometres over the ideal distance, ahead of Team 25 (Véronique DE SYBOURG-SIFFERT / Laurence BRASEY - Michel Riedo&Fils SA) in second position and Team 20 (Catherine KERAMIDAS / Alexandra CHAPUIS - EIFFAGE - CBA) in third. This order remained practically unchanged throughout the entire competition, proof that the Gazelles are solid performers! It remains to be seen if Betty will be on the start line of the 30th edition to try for a 13th victory out of 14 participations.
Heavy blow in Crossover Class
After dominating the class for the entire rally by a considerable margin, Karine and Audrey end in fourth position in the general ranking. A call for mechanical assistance on the final day of competition, which cost them 200 kilometres, dropped them into last place for Leg 6. A heavy blow for the Gazelles who were unable to hide their disappointment on yesterday’s finish line. After this unexpected upset, Frédérique and Malika of Team 312 (Frédérique ROBYR / Malika SCHMALZ - Consortium Entreprise Générale Patrick Schmalz et Dhome SA) emerge as the winners in Crossover Class, followed by Team 311 (Stéphanie d'HEILLY / Marina DUMEAU - MAN TRUCK & BUS FRANCE) of Stéphanie and Marina and Team 313 (Karine DRIRA ROGEZ / Audrey JOVER - INEHA Finance) of Sandrine and Marlène in third place.
In E-Gazelles VINCI Immobilier Class, Team510 (Stéphanie GUERRY / Carine POISSON - ZOE) are the winners after finishing Leg 6 in second place. Stéphanie and Karine finish with a total of 43.70 kilometres over the ideal, six kilometres ahead of Aurélie and Stéphanie of Team 505 (Aurélie DARD / Stéphanie PERUSSE - Intermarché Gaillard (74)) in second place. The third team on the podium is far behind, as Virginie and Lucile of Team 502 (Virginie HENRIOT / Lucile ASSIE - Sète Agglopôle Méditerranée) finish the adventure with 96.78 extra kilometres. Still in E-Gazelles VINCI Immobilier Class, out of the the two electric buggy prototypes, Team 601 (Charlène LESTIENNE / Barbara BARBIER - ASSURANCES LESTIENNE) emerges as winner of the edition with 47 kilometres ahead of Team 600 (Sihame NABIL (EL HORFI) / Amel NABIL (ELKHAL) - Sybelles.ski).
