E-Gazelle VINCI Immobilier Class official start in Monaco
PROMENADE DES ANGLAIS, NICE
Summary
For the third consecutive year, the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc presents its innovative e-Gazelle VINCI Immobilier Class for 100% electric vehicles.
Tried and tested vehicle class
For this 29th edition, 20 participants will be tackling the desert in electric vehicles. His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco himself waved the start for E-Gazelle VINCI Immobilier Class on Saturday March 16 at 10:30 a.m. in front of the royal palace in the Principality of Monaco. The ten teams then made their way to Nice to join the other Gazelles on the Promenade des Anglais for the ceremonial start at 3 p.m. E-Gazelle, the only 100% electric rally raid competition class in the world, has been growing steadily since its inauguration 3 years ago.
A challenge within the challenge
In addition to navigation and map-reading skills, the e-Gazelles have the added challenge of managing their battery levels and perfecting the art of eco-driving. On each leg they will have a specific route adapted to the capacities of their vehicles, with less difficult terrain and shorter distances. However, teams will need to show strategy and efficiency out on the terrain. E-Gazelle Class is part of the environmental approach of the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc, which has ISO 14001:2015 environmental management certification. Two electric buggy prototypes will be among the electric vehicles tackling the sand and the famous Moroccan dunes.
