Cœur de Gazelles

The long-term commitment of Cœur de Gazelles

Patient follow-up is the only unit of the caravan that remains in operation throughout the year. Some of the patients who visit the caravan require further care and follow-up on the short or medium term because.

In such cases, Noura and Christian organize to have the patient transferred to more appropriate medical facilities. In addition, they make appointments with specialists, and all costs are covered by Cœur de Gazelles.

The association follows these patients even after the medical caravan, because we are committed to helping the population all year long.

Presentation of the team

First name: Noura

Occupation: Surgical nurse

Number of years with CDG: 6

Why did you choose Cœur de Gazelles? “One of the caravan’s midwives suggested that I join the adventure and put me in touch with Aziz (Cœur de Gazelles paediatric surgeon). I started out in reception and triage, and then moved on to patient follow-up. My role is to coordinate care and act as a liaison between patients, Cœur de Gazelles and the different parts of the medical system. It requires year-round management, but I really enjoy it. It allows me too ensure that the patients we meet receive all the care they need, and I feel like I am doing something really useful.”

First name: Christian

Occupation: Trainee nurse

Number of years with CDG: 1

Why did you choose Cœur de Gazelles? “I learned about the association through my personal entourage. For a long time, I had wanted to give without expecting anything in return. Having lived in Morocco for 10 years, I know that access to care is sometimes difficult in remote areas. I wanted to live an unusual human experience that would help me to understand my new profession. Cœur de Gazelles is that experience.”

#FreeNasrin

Dominique Serra has dedicated this 29th edition to Nasrin Sotoudeh – prominent Iranian lawyer and human rights advocate – who has been sentenced to 38 years in prison and 148 lashes for “inciting corruption and prostitution” by defending women who took off their headscarves in public.

I encourage everyone to sign the petition for her release.
