Around the rally
Two years after the launch of an electric vehicle class, the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc continued to innovate by including two electric buggies in the competition, which are part of E-Gazelles VINCI Immobilier Class along with eight other electric cars. The project was led by Jérémy Cantin of Bouzils Auto and Fabien Lagier of Solutions-VE.Com, who were on location to manage the prototypes and improve their performance.
After eight days of rally, the two electric buggy teams are unanimous: “it’s an excellent vehicle”. “We can go everywhere! In Merzouga, we performed as well as the 4x4s, we were even first to reach the checkpoints”, affirms Amel of Team 600 (Sihame NABIL (EL HORFI) / Amel NABIL (ELKHAL) - Sybelles.ski). “We’re enjoying ourselves and it’s no problem to follow our headings. We also get a good dose of adrenaline”, adds Charlène Team 601 (Charlène LESTIENNE / Barbara BARBIER - ASSURANCES LESTIENNE). Another non -negligible advantage of these electric vehicles: “it’s completely silent”. “We’re happy to know that we can drive through these areas without having a negative impact”, explains Sihame of Team 600 (Sihame NABIL (EL HORFI) / Amel NABIL (ELKHAL) - Sybelles.ski).
Fabien Lagier is also “very satisfied with the experience”. “Naturally there are things that need improvement but the essential is there”, explains the founder of Solutions-VE.Com, who acknowledges a “slight lack of reliability, easily corrected”. His goal: “do better next year and increase autonomy by 10%”. “We have a year to work on it, that’s more than enough time”, he observes. He hopes to be able to enter “4, 5 buggies next year so there can be a real competition”. The two teams who drove this year’s prototypes encourage the Gazelles to go for it: “It’s the future of motor sport!”
