Distributing donations
The donations unit is an important aspect of the Cœur de Gazelles caravan and requires rigorous work.
A few months before the start of the caravan, a team on the ground works with village leaders to create a list of local families’ needs. The donations collected at the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles Start Village are carefully sorted by the unit’s team in categories: adult or children’s clothing, toys, medical supplies, books, baby supplies…
In the field, donations are distributed according to the preestablished list, to ensure that every family receives appropriate items that meet their needs. Thanks to our partners Dupessey and Aïcha, more than 160 m3 of donations will be distributed this year.

Why did you choose Cœur de Gazelles? “I know Cœur de Gazelles because I did the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles 6 times. In 2012, my teammate backed out a month before the start. Marina (association president) then offered me a place with Cœur de Gazelles, managing the donations. I have come back every year since. It’s very important to me because the population needs the medical caravan. I love the smiles, and I love Morocco. The team and the ambiance are extremely motivating; we are like a real family.”

How did you come to work with Cœur de Gazelles? “I discovered Cœur de Gazelles when I did the Student Challenge in 2013. A friend of mine won the competition and was invited to spend 4 days with the donations unit. I accompanied him and I really liked the kindness and openness of the team. There are so many smiles, so much recognition on the part of the populations, and working with the team is fantastic. Since this experience, I am impatient to return every year.”

How did you come to work with Cœur de Gazelles? “Myriam and Fred, who are good friends of mine, told me about the association. I looked at photos and videos of the caravan, and asked them if I could go with them. I wanted to be on the other side of the screen.
We get so caught up in the experience that we lose ourselves in it. This adventure is my therapy. I love meeting the people, the women: communication is all in the eyes.”
