Around the rally
The two longtime friends are taking on the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc for the first time. They are here to challenge themselves, but also to spread a special message…
Live this adventure at least once in her life
During a trip around the world, Margaux saw a stage of a famous car race. “When I saw that I told myself that I wanted to experience an adventure like that and do a car rally at least once in my life. The Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc suited us well, our desires and our characters.” They both have determination, a sense of solidarity and a ready smile. They decided to stick to their respective roles throughout the competition: Margaux is the driver, Lucille the navigator. “That helps us a lot, it’s easier to get our bearings.” At the end of Leg 3, the Gazelles are running 26th in their class and 8th in the First Participation challenge. “We’re totally caught up in the game.”
A non-profit for bone marrow donation
Four years ago, at just 22 years of age, Lucille learned that she had leukaemia: “I realized there are very few compatible donors, and none in my case. Fortunately, chemotherapy worked well but that is not true for everyone”. Four years later, she is in remission. But France has only 250,000 donors and the chance of a patient being compatible is one in a million. “People are unaware or misinformed. It’s a very simple process, you just sign up on the bone marrow donation website.” Lucille’s leukemia strengthened the bond between the two friends. “Today we’re closer than ever as we take on this challenge, and that’s why we decided to spread this message that is so important to us through our non-profit association Espoir du désert.”
